Report by Wayne Berg

Oceano Dunes

March 28 - 30      Friday - Sunday !!!

The weekend started on Thursday for some ABA'ers.  Phillips Family, Fazendin Family and Guest arrive late Thursday and were greeted with the rising tide and soupy wind blown sand.  All three motorhomes were stuck and the waves were crashing over their trailers.  Luckily, Melissa Phillips did not want to miss 2 days of school so she and Sandy were just getting off the freeway when they received the SOS call.   Everyone got out and there were no other problems getting people in.  They were escorted.

We were all amazed at the beautiful weather with little to no wind.  The whole weekend had temps in the low 80's.  There were many phone calls from friends and family thinking that we were lying about the wind and weather.

Friday morning a few more ABA'ers and guest started arriving by days end there were more than 20 motorhomes and campers.  The turn out was as phenomenal as the weather.

The riding on Saturday started with a nice buggy run, bragging rights on the fastest buggy are still to be determined.  Afterwards there was a quad and buggy run.  Saturday afternoon there was some fun with the kids.  A stainedglass window decoration was made and they all looked great.  This was followed by a bubble gum blowing contest.  Chris Friend and Melissa Phillips were the winner of the biggest bubble and received kites that were 6 to 8 feet long!!!  Only to find out that it is now illegal to fly kites at Pismo. THANKS WAYNE   I guess this scares the poor little "Western Snowy Plover."

Music, Hour'derves and Cocktails came early on Saturday.  Bed time came early for some.  For others the night ended with a run to Comp Hill and some laughs by the camp fire.

Sunday we awoke to another beautiful day and camp started to break up around noon.

Our Prayers are with ABA guests, Casey, Alane and family.  Alane received a phone call on Saturday morning that her Mom past away.  Thank you all for helping to pack them up and get them on their way with in 25 minutes!!!
