July Outing report
Pismo Outing Report, July 2004:
Because of the last minute schedule change this outing had a rather small ABA presence. Still we had a large group and a good time was had by all. Kristy and I arrived Thursday afternoon to find the beach already quite crowded. Our good friend Darren DeSchryver had arrived Wednesday with a bunch of friends and staked off a large area near mile marker five for our group. Throughout Thursday and Friday more friends would arrive until we ultimately had ten
trailers/motor homes in the group. Most had ATV's and bikes although Chad Swanson brought Bob's buggy with him. We even had a prospect named Carl who contacted Eliot via the website, who along with his wife and son camped with us .Luckily we were able to hook him up with Jamie Pitzenbarger (Robin Swanson's brother) and his group who had a bunch of buggies. A highlight of the trip was trying to pull Eliot's rig in at about one o'clock in the morning Friday night. With the beach so crowded there was no clean run to our campsite. Ultimately we had four 4x4 trucks paired up like sled dogs pulling him in. It was sight to see! Fortunately everyone in the group was having fun and was more then willing to help. The weather was great throughout the weekend with some fog in the morning and bright blue skies coming out around 1:00. There was a light breeze blowing and the ocean water felt great. Several large group rides took place with Dave Bates doing most of the leading. Most of the group was on bikes. Sunday arrived all too soon and the exodus began. The beach was still very crowded and we had a challenging time trying to pull everybody out, but everybody left without incident.
ABA'ers in attendance:
Mitch and Kristy Fisher
Eliot and Kim Fisher with guests.
Dave, Kris, Sara and Jack Bates
Chad Swanson and guest.
